Yesterday was a wonderful celebration of arts, music and games had by all in the lovely town of Mayo. Despite the smoke and the late afternoon rain, lots of people came out to enjoy what the Stewart River Valley has to offer for fun, arts and entertainment. A huge thanks to Ian Spencer for all the effort coordinating and organizing, the Stewart Valley Farmer’s Market, Victoria Gold for the concession, the Mayo Volunteer Fire Department for the wonderful steak dinner, festival photographers Peter Idoko, Virginia Mitford, Don Hutton and Anne Leckie, Valerie Maier for volunteering with the artists, Hilda Germaine for directing the Little Jiggers, Bobbie-Lee Melancon for organizing the Northern Tutchone Fashion Show, the Village of Mayo Crew for setting up the whole site, all the wonderful artists, craftspeople, musicians and performers for bringing a great variety of talent to our community, Andy Cunningham and Lana Welchman of ADM Live Sound for such a great job with sound, the Mayo Arts Society for the use of their equipment, Esther Winter for assistance with organizing, Peter Idoko, Asia Winter-Sinnott, Gavin Winter-Sinnott and Kent Sinnott for helping with set-up, and the Mayo RRC and Yukon Environment for their bear-awareness booth. We had a wonderful day and look forward to this great event again next year. Thanks everyone who came out!

Tomorrow is the day!

We are all set for the Arts Festival and Canada Day festivities tomorrow! It is always exciting to see what the local artists and musicians have to offer. We are also really looking forward to the Northern Tutchone Fashion Show and the Farmers’ Market along with all the activities and booths. Take a look at the schedule and make sure you don’t miss anything! See you all tomorrow.

Mayo Arts Fest/Canada Day Festivities 2019

The planning is again underway for the Mayo Arts festival that will be held in conjunction with the Village of Mayo’s Canada Day. Last year was a definite highlight of the summer and there was a wonderful array of musicians and artists that we hope will join us again this year along with some new people. Stay tuned!
